Online shoppers urged: Buy early or lose out!
Sep 27, 2020
It is feeling properly autumnal now. The beautiful colours, the leaves falling and garden furniture found upside down from the wind!
That drop in temperature and the obvious change in the seasons really focuses my mind on this final quarter of the year, which of course in view of this years context is anticipated to be one of the busiest online ever.
We are receiving updated order volume predictions from our customers and goods in slots are being booked into our production schedule throughout the month of October for stock arriving in readiness for this peak season.
I have been interested to see that shoppers are being urged to buy Christmas gifts early this year in case stock runs out or orders struggle to arrive in time due to the increased pressure on supply chains working in environments that need to enforce covid compliant measures.
According to the IMRG, the industry body for online retailers, shops could face a 30 per cent increase in online sales for the peak festive trading season ...
... If physical stores were to close again due to Covid-19 restrictions, this figure could jump to 50 per cent.
Andy Mulcahy from the IMRG told the BBC, who first reported the story: “We think the volumes are going to be really very excessive this year.
“If you can spread out your shopping and do quite a lot of it in November, maybe even a bit of it now, then that would really help.”
You can read the whole article here:- Buy Christmas gifts early or risk losing out on online deliveries, shoppers warned.
The article goes on to raise concerns about bottle necks in warehouses due to the social distancing measures we are working under. Please rest assured here at OFEX we are very much ready.
Kind regards,
Sam.
P.S. If you can encourage your customers to buy their Christmas gifts early from you, it may be a good idea!
